As a result of our work with Mansfield District Council, Warsop Parish Council, Vibrant Warsop and Active Notts in 2018/19, the case for a new health hub was developed. Feasibility work with Roberts Limbrick Architects and Abacus Cost Consultants then identified the location, facility design, layout and cost. SLL worked closely with Sport England to develop the application for Strategic Facilities capital funding and with Mansfield District Council to develop and submit a bid for Towns Funding.

Alliance Leisure was then appointed to project manage the build project which was awarded to Pelikaan, whilst the operational model was developed by SLL, Mansfield District Council, Serco and Vibrant Warsop.

Opened in June 2024, the Warsop health Hub is having a significant impact on the lives and health of local people. Warsop is one of 5 parishes where there are long-term health conditions related to the former mining industry, as well as many other health, social and economic inequalities.

Partnership working with health services through Vibrant Warsop’s ‘Small Steps’ initiative is seeing real impact on individual and community health for those who were previously inactive, or thought physical activity was not for them.

In its first year of operation, Warsop health Hub has exceeded forecasts for numbers on swimming lessons, gym membership and class participation.

2,448 individual participants have used the Health Hub, which has generated £636,383 of social value, an average of £260 per person which is higher than the national average of £230 per person.

There are more females than males participating in activities at the Health Hub and a higher % of all participants are from IMD1-3 groups.

Many congratulations to the whole team involved in this very special facility – we are very proud to have had a role in its concept and development and so pleased to see the real impact it is having on the health and happiness of the Warsop community
