The brief

Strategic Leisure Limited (SLL) was appointed by West Berkshire District Council to assist the Countryside and Environmental Unit to develop and implement a plan to manage and improve two adjoining parks in the District.

Our Approach

The plan set a ‘vision’ for the:
Priorities for investment in accordance with local communities aspirations Priorities for investment in accordance with local communities aspirations
Improvements of the quality within the two parks though structured and co-ordinated approach
Opportunities for the parks to be brought up to Green Flag Award standards and for the parks to be entered for the award in 2005
Development of set achievable aims and objectives for the two parks

Project Outcomes

SLL produced a comprehensive assessment of the condition of the parks in accordance with Green Flag Criteria, and carried out extensive consultation with local residents, ward councillors and key stakeholders to identify their issues, concerns and aspirations.

Following feedback from site condition surveys, assessments and consultation, SLL provided the Council with clear, achievable management options and objectives for the next five years.
