The brief

Strategic Leisure Limited (SLL) and The Gibson Hamilton Partnership were appointed by Guernsey Education Council to develop a ‘Vision’ for the future provision of swimming in Guernsey. The Education Council were informed on how to achieve and what needed to be done in order to achieve the ‘Vision’.

Our Approach

SLL and The Gibson Hamilton Partnership worked in partnership assessing the current condition of the existing swimming pools, detailed options regarding the current provision of the swimming pools, expressed needs for modernization and innovation of current facilities in order to satisfy public choice and service, the ever changing leisure trends, and to include those people who are experiencing deprivation and disadvantage, finally the requirement for Best Value services and competition for capital investment will be investigated.

Project Outcomes

The swimming pool survey, provision, audit and option appraisal is still underdevelopment, and once the project ceases SLL and The Gibson Hamilton Partnership, will have reviewed existing surveys of swimming pools, planned/proposed facilities and development overview of current position. The review will also include the demand of school and general users of the swimming pools.

Finally SLL and the Gibson Hamilton Partnership intend to develop the ‘Vision’ for swimming provision and the options for future provision, once the ‘Vision’ is developed the final stage is deliverance. The delivery of the ‘Vision’ will include considerations for options for operational management, predicted usage and strategic recommendations for its continuous improvement.
