01.03.07: Mark Sutcliffe’s reflections on recent ‘Scoping Mission’ to Vancouver, Canada

Mark Sutcliffe, Chief Executive, was recently invited by UKTI to participate in a 'scoping mission' to Vancouver. The aim of the mission was to identify opportunities for UK companies arising from the 2010 Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games. The trip coincided with a visit to Canada by the British Olympic Authority and joint visits to the sporting venues were facilitated.

Mark's Comments: "It is clear that planning for Vancouver 2010 is well advanced and that it will be a spectacular event. There are still opportunities for UK companies in relation to legacy, overlay, security, the 'look' of the event to name a few and the short gap between 2010 and London 2012 means there is great potential for partnerships between Canadian and UK companies. It was a great trip and a privilege to see such spectacular venues".
